I apologize!! Apparently, YOUR BLOG CREATOR was working too quickly – and got the date of the Democratic Convention wrong. The Democratic Convention convenes in Chicago on August19. I referenced the date for the Republican Convention. Mea Culpa!! The wavering Democrats have more time than I thought for their nomination, but one date that I am NOT misinformed on is Election Day – November 5, 2024. That date is rapidly approaching.

Hi Craig, the other date to be aware of, and it isn’t solid yet, is the day the Democratic delegates will hold their virtual vote to name the Presidential candidate in time to be on the Ohio ballot. Ohio requires candidates to be named at least 90 days in advance, so early August. While it will be unlikely that a Democrat will win statewide there, the party won’t want to concede it or give the impression to their voters there aren’t important.
So they will vote virtually and the convention later in the month will be ceremonial. One date that is out there for the virtual ballot is July 21st. The DNC will have representatives meeting next week to firm up the party platform and one thought is that the punctuation to that will be the virtual vote, but they would actually have up to two weeks after that to “convene” and still be ahead of the Ohio deadline.
Considering Pelosi’s signal that Joe still needs to make a decision, the increasing number of Democrats calling for him to step aside and the early polls showing Kamala starting to open a hypothetical lead over Trump, I am hoping that he starts listening and makes his decision to leave the race sooner than later.
On the other hand, one theory is that he will wait until the RNC gavels to a close next week to let them spend their venom on him and then make his announcement to leave them with a little over three months to try to smear the replacement candidate.
Good morning! Feeling better or at least different today?
